Army First Cavalry Challenge Coin

The 1st Cavalry Regiment of the United States Army, with a storied history dating back to the early 19th century, has served in numerous pivotal conflicts and engagements. Originally formed as the United States Regiment of Dragoons in 1833, it carries the unique designation of "First Regiment of Dragoons" to this day. The regiment's motto, "Animo Et Fide" ("Courageous and Faithful"), reflects its enduring legacy. It has participated in major historical events, from the Mexican-American War to recent operations in Afghanistan, showcasing the evolution of cavalry tactics and the adaptability of the U.S. Army over centuries.
